To donate for homeless outreach:

Spoon Commune is a theme camp for To The Moon and Alchemy focused on “making life easier”.

  • For camp members:
    • Join our Spoonie-centric camp that takes into account the needs of our disabled and neurodivergent members through amenities that make burn-life a little more comfortable.
  • For everyone at the burn:
    • Rest in our cozy gathering spot for relaxation and conversation.
    • Stop by the Flip Flop Forgot Shop full of those little things you might have forgotten to pack.
    • Visit our Repair & Spare Gear Garage if you need to repair any of your adventure gear.
  • For our neighbors-in-need back home:
    • Donate to our outreach efforts for our homeless neighbors in Knoxville.
    • Drop off anything you don’t want to take back home after the burn – shelf stable food, unwanted camping gear, broken gear that we can fix up and distribute to those in need.

Spoon Commune is:

Spoonie-Centric. You don’t have to be a Spoonie to camp with us, however Spoonies are prioritized in camp decisions.

Family-Friendly. Families with kids are welcome to camp with us. All our public camp-activities are family friendly. We have a burner-style, queer-centric, kink-friendly version of family-friendly. Ask if you need more clarification.

Radical-Self-Reliance-Enhancing. All camp members are self-reliant for the things they need to be safe and comfortable, and then we provide some helpful extras on top.

Communal Effort. Everyone pitches in to the best of their abilities. We never make anyone show up at a specific time in a specific way, but our communal needs are ongoing so that everyone can help out when and where they are able.

We welcome new members!

We’re a new camp run by experienced burners. We’d love to grow into a BIG camp! We welcome old friends, strangers, long-time burners, first-time burners, solo campers, and families. To apply for membership, fill out this form.

Camp Dues

  • Sliding scale of $20-$50 requested.
  • No one is turned away for lack of money or required to work more in place of money.
  • We also need lots of stuff, and we keep an updated list of what we’re looking for so people can help thrift, scrounge, and craft stuff we need.

Current Stuff Needs

  • Spoons – literal spoons. We’re going to do a big spoon-based art installation, maybe. Or maybe just host giant games of Spoons.
  • Couch cushions, futon mattresses, fluffy comforters – these are hard to come by cheaply, so it helps if everyone is on the lookout for them. They don’t have to be pretty; we can re-cover them.
  • Quilts – we’re going with a quilted theme for our comfy living room area
  • Flip Flop Forgot Shop inventory – see Flip Flop section

Internal Amenities

(Optional; Maybe; In Consideration)

  • Private accessible porto-potty – 100% absolutely ONLY for camp members. If it’s too busy, spoonies get priority access. This is pending per price and coordination with event logistics.
  • Private golf cart taxi. The taxi does not go out and stay out. It lives at camp and is driven by pre-approved camp members. People who want a ride can grab a taxi driver and be dropped off somewhere, and then the taxi comes right back. If we have cell signal we may be able to coordinate for return pickups.
  • Battery and generator power for phones, fans, music, lights, medical – how much power we can provide will depend on how many members we have.
  • Food – we will NOT be doing coordinated/scheduled meals. We will have a 24/7 Charcoolerie that members can snack from at any time.
  • Kitchen – we will coordinate on a camp kitchen that members can use any time to prepare their own food.
